At the base of this picturesque granite tor are the remains of an abandoned medieval village. Believed abandoned due to plague in the fourteenth century. Granite tors are the defining feature of Dartmoor and Hound Tor is certainly an impressive example. Climb to the top you will be rewarded with a view of the great expanse that is Dartmoor, also lots of letterboxes are hidden around this rocky tor
